Rainy days and Mondays.....

Today it was both, a rainy day AND a Monday--but I didn't let it get me down. I attended this great fireside last nite about positive thinking and positive outcomes from it--but the best part was the delicious desserts and refreshing new drink I experienced. It was like sipping on a cool glass of cucumber melon candle!!! Did you know you could juice a cucumber? Ok honestly it was quite different but hey I will try almost anything once. So my question to you all is this, what else should we try and juice and what are some "interesting" things you have experienced ?

Clarification

I am afraid there has been a wee bit of confusion about my last post. No my husband's name is not Jose, but for some reason that is what people tend to call him--even those who know him well. I suppose it just flows from the tongue easier than Jesus or maybe its racial (isn't it always???) And to make it even better, people usually call me Michelle. So let me introduce ourselves..... Jose and Michelle!

Happy Birthday Jose!!!

All Hail the Birthday King!!! Today 'mi rey' is a glorious 33. Look how nice he cleans up. I was reminiscing on some of the funny instances from our past. Let's roll on down the memory lane...

There was the time in college (lots of good times in college....) when he thought it would be funny to type silly or bad words throughout an english paper I was working on, while I was out in the hall on the phone. Instead of erasing the "bad words", he "accidentally" erased half of my english paper (due the next day by the way).

Or the time we were coming back from Yuma in our old blue car, in the summer, and the car started overheating. So we rolled down the windows and turned the HEAT on, only to be passing the lovely cow farms (PU) and to top it off we drove thru a swarm of bees!! We just looked at each other and said one day well look back at this and laugh--we can now!

Any one who knows Jose knows there is never dull moment with him around. His knowledge of useless facts, his sense of humor(not everyone appreciates--or maybe it's just me), his karaoke skills, his ability to quickly and without trying lock you out of your car-even if you are in Mexico (no discrimination here).

This all may sound negative but the honest truth is I LOVE HIM!! Let's all take a moment to reflect on "His Magesty"--the birthday king! Share your favorite "J" moments.

Simple Joys

As I was eating my cereal this morning I was pondering on what brings me simple joy. Like cereal--its cheap, crunchy and a great sweet snack. Some other things that bring me simple joy are

  • having all the socks match up after laundry
  • my kids giggles
  • emails from friends--not just forwards
  • finding a dollar in your pant/coat pocket
  • any positive amount in the checkbook after bills are paid, even if its the dollar you found in your pocket

I am sure if I sat here long enough I could have a huge list but these were my top 5 off the top of my head. So, what are some of your simple joys? Don't overthink it, just rattle off your top 5, let me know!! (any one else have the sock one?????)

Spanish Lessons

So this first edition will be the introductions. This is the head of the house Buenos Diaz (means good day) but remember I am the neck and tells the head which way to turn..but i digress.
Here he is hugging our first--Quesa Diaz (means tortilla with cheese). mmmmm cheese--what a cheezer!!

And then there is little Pesa Diaz (means nightmare) we'll just let you figure out why that's appropriate on your own.

Which leaves me and since I've run out of funny Spanish words that go with our name, I'm just Meli Diaz. (creativity just flows from me right??) Ok ok I thought of one Ar Diaz (means chipmunk) appropriate also I think--look at those cheeks!!

That ends our Spanish lesson for the day--tomorrow let's take a field trip!!
