Memorial Day 2008

We had a fun filled weekend. Our original plan was to go to the Gulf of Mexico with J's family, living on the beach riding quads but with gas the way it was we decided to stay put and enjoy Fabulous Las Vegas!! Saturday we used some free passes to see the new Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian. We liked it--I heard it was violent but I didn't think it was any more violent than the first one plus in this one you get to gaze at yummy Prince Caspian--I know a little cougarish of me but oh well.

That night we went to the Las Vegas 51's game with our great friends the Nebeker's. We have been friends since Aj was under 1 year old. Between the two of us we have 5 crazy boys! It was a little chilly and we even got rained on!! What the---I thought it was May!!

On Sunday after church we went to look at model homes of the one my brother is possible going to build. LOVE IT-- notice J enjoying himself as well!!!

On Monday I put our flag out to celebrate Memorial Day and Alex looked out and said "What the....Why do we have a pledge of allegiance out front" He then proceeded to go out and say the pledge to our flag. Oh how cute--the vet's should be happy.
And ended the day with some friends for lunch --the Martinez family and a fun bbq at our good friends the Thomas'. Overall a busy but nice weekend.

Flashback Friday

So when I was young one of our favorite things to do was jump on the trampoline with the hose. We would pretend we were making a "Slice soda" commercial--remember that one where they would splash thru the water??? Well now its the next generation of trampoline water jumping.

Now on a funny side note.... I bought this shirt yesterday, totally thought it was cute. I was excited to show it to J, and he proceeds to point out some provocative "artwork" in the upper flowers. Leave it to a man to notice that--needless to say that's all I see now when I look at this shirt. I still like it and am keeping it- just don't get embarrassed if I wear it around you. Sorry if you are offended. (if you haven't noticed it, it totally looks like a naked woman's breasts) Geeeezzzz!!! Men!!!!

Second side note.... I love my new camera!!!

Stop Whinning!

Just a funny insight.

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule: 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this - Thank a teacher!

Flashback Friday--Anniversary Edition

So tomorrow, May 17th is our 12th wedding anniversary. J was like "Can you believe we have been married a dozen years?" When you put it that way it sounds longer. If you ask him its been the best 9 or so years of his life---ha ha. I am glad that we still like each other and occasionally show it. Thanks for a great 9 or so years babe! Love you!!

A Little Run-in With Celebrities

For teacher appreciation week Madame Tussauds wax museum gave each teacher plus a guest free admission into their exhibit. J and I went out last Friday for a date there and had a blast. It was silly taking pictures with these wax statues--some looked so real I was nervous they were going to jump and scare me. I don't think it's worth the cost of admission but if you found a great deal/coupon it makes for a fun and silly time--especially if you have no inhibitions about posing with your hand on the butt of some of the statues (J!!!!) The pic of J and Bush is just to tick-off his brothers!! We also thought it would be funny to post another picture of the twins AAHHNOLD and J--a little more serious looking this time though

Marathon a Month Club

So thanks to our great friend Randi (and all her crazy ideas) she came up with this fun idea of walking/running a marathon a month. Now I am the last to exercise and the first to complain about it but I actually have started to walk every morning about two miles. I take my time and I try to walk to the beat of what ever song is jammin in my ipod --but it actually makes me feel good after i am done. I encourage all of you to join too--we are not talking of actually running a marathon--just getting active enough to complete the distance of one in a month--easy!!! Get on board and make the ticker move!!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Melissa! Also a special HMD (Happy Mother's Day) to Didi, Oli, Sabi, Maren, Peggy and our beloved Eva. I hope you all get spoiled by your children and spouses (spousi?) each and every day this year.

This is a small video I made for Melissa for Mother's Day. It has pictures and videos set to music. I made it using Windows MovieMaker. Hope you enjoy it.

Twin Day at Wasden

Today was Twins Day at Wasden ES, so AJ and I decided to dress alike, because as most of you know, he really doesn't look like me. He doesn't act like me either. Hmmm, should I be worried? Oh well, once he gets a little bit cuter, he and I will be spitting images. Speaking of twins, how 'bout these twins. I'll keep it posted until Melissa makes me take them down.

I really think Arnold has let himself go since we took these pictures.

Now this one is uncanny.

Let me know what you think!

Spring Mountain Ranch

Ok, so we have lived here in Las Vegas for over 9 years and this was our first time out to Spring Mountain Ranch. Why we never went here before I don't know---we loved it out there! Something about being surrounded by the gorgeous mountains and cooler fresh air makes you appreciate things more! Even my kids were actually NICE to each other (see the picture of them sharing their food). We BBQ'd, played ball, even hiked--just a little jaunt(nice word K)--to a lake. It was great--good times with good friends! Go there if you never have, you won't regret it!! (ps I put the picture of the burger in for J--he gets proud of his skills with the grill!)
